It's here!!!

My new camera arrived today, and I LOVE it!!! I think we're going to be best friends on vacation, (however, I'm still taking the manual just in case). Tomorrow will be a nice test run when us girls go to the Keith and Carrie concert. I'm excited, but I know I'm going to be exhausted when I get home from clinical.
Speaking of clinical....I got done SUPER early with my paperwork tonight. I almost felt like there was something wrong, but I know there wasn't. I did all the meds I had on both my patients and since they had no labs that was nice. Tomorrow is sure to be wild and crazy, but I have the concert to look forward to and the incentive that I only have two more weeks after tomorrow of clinicals!! Woohoo!!! I can't believe that I am so close to being done with this semester. It can not come soon enough!!! I only have one more test and then it's finals.
I wish I had something more exciting to share with you all, but for now I got nothin'. Pray for me tomorrow. JCAHO (pronounced Jay-Ko) is at the hospital this week. Basically they are the people that make sure we are safe and do things correct. It's a lot more detailed than that, but it's too complex for me to go into detail this late. Anyway, I guess I would like for you to pray that they stay away from me. Haha! :) You think I'm kidding....I'm not. They can pull anyone on the floor and ask them questions. I thought they were coming last week, which would have been perfect since I was in surgery, but no.... they had to come this week. Anyway...enough about that.
I should probably get to bed since tomorrow is going to be a very long day. Have a good Tuesday!!!

Say it ain't so!!

Dare I even say it? It's almost too awful to speak! I...I.... think I'm getting a cold!!! I know!!! It's the most awful news you've heard all day!!! I don't know what happened. I was fine when I woke up and was feeling pretty good the majority of the day, then at about 2p it hit me. My nose started feeling stuffy, yet runny (you know what I mean?) and then my throat started hurting. And then there is the sneezing. It seems like I've been sneezing more than usual. I'm praying that this is just allergies and a possible change in the weather. Yeah...that's what it is. It's the weather. My allergies are just being hypersensitive this year...... Am I convincing you yet? I'm pretty close to having myself convinced that's what's wrong with me. *sigh*.... I guess time will tell.

I got a lot accomplished tonight. I looked up a few things for my day in surgery tomorrow, took an online quiz, put in my 30 minutes of MedsPub practice for this week, and even started organizing stuff for my 3rd teaching lesson. Hopefully this week will go more smoothly than last week. If I don't feel good I have a feeling they will gang up on me. :/

I said goodbye to my camera today. I packed it up and sent it off with my sister to mail tomorrow. It was kind of weird, because of course the minute it was gone I wanted to take a picture of something... isn't that how it always goes. I guess I'll have to wait until I get my new one ordered and shipped. That could be up to 2 weeks though. Can I live that long??

Well, I guess I should get to bed. I need to get up early and ready to go in and observe a surgery at 7:20 am. That means I'll be standing for the better part of two hours, and you know what, maybe even longer since I'll be trailing my selected patient to the PACU and beyond. Oh boy.... this may be interesting if I'm feeling yucky tomorrow. Pray I get rid of atleast this sore throat. I hate that! I'd rather be hoarse than have a sore throat.

Well, have a good week. I'll be back Wednesday night or after probably. Depends on how productive I'm feeling tomorrow night. :)

Happy Anniversary....

It is my parent's anniversary today! Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!!! They've been married 33 years.
We had a fun night of pizza for dinner, ice cream for dessert, and a rowdy game of Mexican Dominoes. Yes, I said rowdy. I wouldn't say that any of us are overly competitive, but we definitely try are darndest not to lose. It was all in good fun though....we definitely had some good laughs. :)

Today was a pretty full day for me. I got up early and went to lunch with a friend of mine that I haven't seen in awhile, and we talked for FOUR hours. I guess we had more to catch up on than I thought. I came home in time to check my email and then I was off again. My cousin Rachel had her last show choir performances today. She had one at 4 and then another at 7p. We went to the 4 o'clock because it is my parent's anniversary, so we can't say that we went to the FINAL performance of her highschool career, but we were close enough..... She had a couple solos and she did fantabulous! She's definitely singing for my wedding (if I get married that is...).

I think I stayed up too late reading last night. I started reading at 11, which should have been my first clue that I would be up late. I read until 1 and then forced myself to go to bed when my eyes started crossing. haha. I'm a little over halfway done with my book, and if I stay committed I can finish it this week. I've decided to not start another book until I'm done with school. It's too much of a distraction.
This week should actually be pretty easy because I don't have any tests, I have one online quiz, but that shouldn't be too bad, and then I go to surgery Tuesday, so no paperwork beforehand. Hopefully I get to see something cool. I have my third week of teaching this week. Ugh! Is it over yet?? My first week was awesome, but the second week was brutal. I don't want to go back! I knew there was a reason why I didn't choose teaching as my profession of choice. Oh well, only 2 more weeks of that, and then I am done. Woohoo!

So my camera sold! Yea!!!!! The reserve was met early this morning and it went over and beyond by almost $20. New camera, here I come!!! Here are a couple more pics of Sydney that I took with my camera (that officially is not mine anymore)

Camera

Alright... my camera is officially for sale on ebay. If you are interested in checking it out you can search for it under the category cameras by clicking "Sony cyber-shot dsc-w55 digital camera- Excellent cond". There is currently one bid....for $.99. Yea, I know, but I have a reserve on it, so if it doesn't go higher I'm not obligated to sell. (Don't I sound like I know what I'm talking about?)
So, that leads me to the real reason for this post.... What kind of camera should I get now??? I need suggestions. I would prefer something that has some sort of sport feature (takes pics really fast if things are moving). That is a main perk I'd like, and other than that I'm open for anything. I need to get crack-a-lackin (as my friend Ashley would say), because I only have 6 weeks before vacation!!!! Freak out!!!! I scare my sis everytime I count down the weeks. She doesn't feel like she has enough time to organize our itinerary and get it bound in a handbook! Haha... I kid....sort of. ;)
So yea, I'm open to suggestions on cameras. Have you heard of any good ones? Do you have an awesome camera you think I should have too? Let me know.......

I got to see precious little Maia today. Her mama and daddy brought her to the Spotted Cow restaraunt in the hospital, so I stopped in and saw them on my lunch break. They were waiting to go to a doctor's appointment. I wish I had had my camera then. She was laying in this little bed on the table and she looked so precious wrapped in her pink blanket. She even woke up and showed us her pretty eyes. She is soooo adorble!! I am so proud of Deena. She is a rockstar of a mom! (Walt is a pretty awesome daddy too!)

Alright, I need to go to bed. I have to get up at 5 tomorrow for clinical and I'll be running running running until 3. I'm tired just thinking about it. I have much more on my mind, but I guess you'll have to wait until later this week to hear it. Have a good Tuesday!!!!

Miscellaneous-ness

Is that a word? I don't think it is, but oh well.... This post if going to be a mix of sorts. Lots of things to say. :)

Ok, so have you ever seen the Secret Life of a Soccer Mom? It's on TLC. I caught it last week and it sucked me in right away. However, I think the fact that the mom was a former nurse had something to do with it. She hadn't had a nursing job in 10 years, but she was getting the opportunity to be a Maternal/Fetal Flight Nurse. It was pretty awesome. Made me think about if that would be something that I might want to do. It definitely intrigued me.... So anyway, the whole point of the show is to tell the mom's family she is at a spa for a week, but in reality she is doing the career she wished she could have pursued had she not made the choice to stay at home and raise her children. Now don't get mad people. They aren't saying being a stay at home mom is bad, they are just giving these people an amazing opportunity to jump back into the workforce for a week to see how they like it. At the end of the show they usually get offered an internship or something. They can confer with their family and then choose whether or not to take the job. The show definitely has it's flaws, but overall was enjoyable for me since it was focused on my field of choice. Next episode is about a woman who wanted to be a news anchor. Don't think I'll be as enthused for that profession. :)

So...prayer request.... pray for my good friend Deena. She is having (or already had) a C-section tonight. Her baby has some complications, so they had a scheduled Cesarean scheduled for Thursday, but little Maia decided she wanted to meet everyone tonight. Pray Deena and Maia don't have any severe complications and that they both recover quickly.

SI.... do you know what that stands for? Well you sports fanatics surely do. It's an abbreviation for Sports Illustrated. Did you guys see that my dad was in the March 3rd issue with Jason Kidd on the cover? I mean of course you saw him... how could you miss him?

Hard for you to pick him out with all those people? Let me make it easier for you.....



You see him now right? He's in orange.... If you still haven't seen him, I'll give you a hint.... he's by someone who ISN'T in orange. You surely see him now. :)

Ok, so I officially think I will be selling my camera. It isn't that it doesn't take high quality pictures, and I love the size of it, but it just doesn't have the features I want. I'm not a professional photographer, so I need a camera that is semi-smart. I don't want to have to figure it out. I want it to do all the work for me. So if you know anyone that wants a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55 let me know. It's in super good condition. I keep it in a case, and haven't dropped it or anything. :) It's practically like new! I'm serious... make me an offer!

So, I went to a bookstore today. To shop. For books. The kicker is, they are books I actually WANT to read. I know... shocking! I do not have to study this weekend, so I am hoping to finish up a book I am reading now and then move on to one I bought today. I can hardly wait!

Where has my head gone?

I had something in mind to blog about tonight, because I knew I would be done fairly early with my paperwork. Now that I'm sitting here though I can't think of what it was. Shoot! I hate when that happens.

Yea, so that's how a camera should take pictures. It seems that in the last couple days I've seen nothing but camera ads everywhere I look. Is it a sign??? I really do like my camera, I just think it's having issues. I will try to resolve them, but if things don't get better all I have to say is "Camera for Sale!".

Alright, well I should get ready for bed. I need to get up at 5 tomorrow. Ugh! I hate early mornings! Only about 9 more months of this and then I can do whatever shift I want!

Day 2: Part II

***WARNING-- DO NOT READ FURTHER (in this blog or future blogs for 4 days) IF: You can not keep a secret, you will be talking to Aunt Betty in the next couple weeks and you can not keep a secret, when you get excited things spill out of your mouth before you think, or you can not read the above. Hence, we don't want Aunt Betty to know we are watching Izzy too. It will only make her worry unnecessarily. So mums the word (or rather pup). Haha!***

Well, it is almostg 3 and all are still alive. I have some more pics and a video to post, so this shoudl be enjoyable for you all. The pics will probably be spread out in an every other day pattern from now on, because my camera doesn't do well with rapid puppy movements, so I'm borrowing my sisters camera. (Thanks Hol!) So I will give the camera to her tomorrow night to download pics and then I'll have her bring it back Christmas morning to capture all that fun activity. (Right Hol? Fun, fun, fun!)

Well, Zoe is laying on my lap right now. Everyone is in their neutral corners. Sydney is roaming the house (as she should since it's hers to begin with), Izzy is in her pen taking a nap, and Zoe is shut in my room with me writing this blog. She's still kind of scared, but only when there is a lot of commotion or one of the other dogs approaches her. She's antisocial, but she's cute....

Where do I begin?

Let's just say that I am new to the blogging world. Sure, I've read plenty of them, but I have never actually written one. I don't even have a myspace account. I know, I know... *GASP*!! I guess I never really got into that fad.
However, this whole blogging thing has intrigued me, so I thought I would give it a go. I'm warning you now... I'm not that interesting. I'm not a total bore, but I have never been described as "the life of the party". It usually takes me awhile to show my true self to someone.
This should be interesting though, since this is a one-sided conversation basically. I could essentially be talking to myself most days. That's okay though. I'm in nursing school, and sometimes I just need a place to vent out my frustrations.
I should probably be studying right now, but I've found about a dozen more interesting things to do than that. I got a new digital camera today since my old one seemed to favor my sister more than me. :( I ended up with a Sony Cyber-shot (DSC-W55, 7.2MP), and I think I'm going to like it. This is of course based off of the 5 whole minutes I've played with it (I was waiting for the battery to charge). It will definitely take some getting used to, because it's a lot smaller than my old one. It's great for throwing in my purse though. You never know now when I'm going to whip out my camera and take a picture. From now on, always be prepared when you're with me. You're hair must look stellar at all times now. No make-up free days anymore. You have to have your game face on. Start practicing your perfect picture smiles people!
OK, I should get some beauty sleep. Full day tomorrow, and tests on Monday and Tuesday. Just wanted to get my intro blog up and say hi. I'll be back though, don't worry. I'll come with pictures and stories and who knows what else. :)
