Over and Done...

My externship ended this morning at 7am. I was sad and yet happy at the same time. Sad to leave the people and oh so happy to have a break. I only have a couple weeks before school starts and then the real craziness begins. My last semester!!! I can't believe that I am almost done with college. Does that make me a grown up???

There is nothing new going on around here besides that. I'm just trying to work on preparing for my last semester and taking it easy. We had some family from out of town come in and visit tonight, so my sleep time was cut short (probably didn't help that I went out to breakfast after work with a friend and finally crawled into bed around 12:30). I'll definitely be ready for bed early tonight.

Luncheon tomorrow and then I'm thinking next week should be devoted to the pool. Sounds heavenly doesn't it? Hol is trying to score us tickets for a baseball game for Sunday, so we'll see what happens with that. It would be nice to take in a good game. Hope everyone has been having a good week! I feel very out of touch with everything, so if something big happened this week let me know! :)

Sleep deprived...

I guess I knew that I've been a little sleep deprived lately, but it was definitely apparent when I woke up at 1am this morning. You're probably thinking, "How does that prove you're sleep deprived? You woke up in the middle of the night?" Well, I went to sleep at 10:30 am on Friday and woke up at 1am on Saturday! That's 14 hours people! I slept my whole Friday away! Granted I probably wouldn't have done much anyway, but still. A whole day...gone!

I have 3 days left of work. It seems unreal. It's making me even more anxious that my last semester of school is just a few weeks away. Lord willing I will be a nurse 6 months from now. That crazy for me to even think about! I am almost done with school...forever!! Of course I could go back to get my Masters, but there is no rush and I don't plan on doing that for quite awhile.

Where does time go? I can still remember playing outside at our old house (that we haven't lived in for more than 10 years). Riding my bike up and down the sidewalk in front of our house, playing on the swingset in the backyard.... Where did the time go? How did I get so much older in what seems like such a short amount of time? Did my sisters and I really just go on a girl's vacation this summer? We've been talking about trips like that for years, and we've finally taken our first trip! Life slips by so quickly when we're not watching...

I feel like I should be out enjoying the sunshine. I don't know what to do, but I feel like I need to be out and about today. One reason is I may fall asleep if I don't. Ha! It's so dark in my room, even with the blinds open. I want to enjoy this day before it so quickly slips away....

Hope you can get outside and enjoy the sun today!

Oh Tags....

Let me preface with I'm sorry if you hate these....

Melissa (a former co-worker and family friend) tagged me to participate in this....tag. I'm only doing this because I was the only person she tagged and I would want her to do it for me if I tagged her. I follow your blog girl, don't worry! You'd be surprised... I bet more people read than you think.
Read on....

Here are the rules:
1. Link the person(s) who tagged you
2. Mention the rules on your blog.
3. Tell about 6 unspectacular quirks of yours.
4. Tag 6 following bloggers by linking them.
5. Leave a comment on each of the tagged blogger's blogs letting them know they've been tagged.

On to my "quirks"...
1. I hate forwards that say anything about "if you don't return this to the person that sent it to you I guess you aren't their friend". I'd rather have a meaningful email conversation than have to reply to a generic forward. I love to talk to friends... I'm more than willing to email people.
2. I love and hate change all at the same time. Just depends on what way the wind is blowing for that day. :)
3. Apparently I'm anal (according to Hol) about just about everything. I just don't quite believe that. ;)
4. My brain can work so quick sometimes (replying with a quick-witted comeback) and then it can work soooo slow other times (trying to think of 6 quirks about myself).
5. Drives me insane when someone calls to talk to you, but can't remember your name. (I just had this happen with someone who bought books from me last semester. She called and in her message said "I don't remember your name, but I bought books off of you last semester and was wondering if you had any for this semester...". Nice person...just couldn't remember my name. I think that's kind of a necessity if you are wanting something from someone. Agreed?
6. Drives me nuts when people say they are going to do something and do not follow through. I can be forgiving if it happens every once in a blue moon, but if it's repetitive then I get annoyed.

Were those good enough??

Alright, well I know I have followers, but I hate to tag them if they don't like these things, so listen up followers.... You are unofficially tagged! If you want to participate then leave your name in my comments and I will come check out your blog. Otherwise you can still follow me in the shadows and no harm done. I won't be hurt if no one accepts this unofficial tag.

Have a good night! The week is halfway over! Woohoo!

Room Transformation

Over the past couple days my room has morphed from a highschooler's room to a sophisticated college student's room who is ready to go out into the world. I know... that's a lot for one room to say, but I think it says it well. My parents painted my room while I had to go to an educational meeting at school/work. When I got home there was no more "ambitious amber" to be seen on my walls. It's kind of a lot to get used to because I hate boring colors (hence the bright color before). We chose this color so that it would not have to be painted again if we had to move or something. Apparently people shy away from color when it comes to buying houses. Neutral all the way!
Anyway... here are the pictures. Mind you... my room is not too clean, but let's face it... if we waited until it was totally clean you would never see these pictures. So never mind the cluttered desk and the tubs on the floor. I'm still in the process of organizing my school stuff to box it away.

Next project: Organizational system for my closet! Can't wait! :)

Lesson

You know how there is usually a lesson to be learned with every trial you face? Well, I wish this lesson would be done already. Within a 48 hour period I've gone from really exciting to being totally devastated.

What is GOD trying to teach me?

I can only wait on Him to show me what he really has planned for me, and I admit it is hard to not worry. But what does the Bible say???

~1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for me.
~Phillipians 4:6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
~Proverbs 12:25 An anxious heart weighs a man down....

I guess that's when you know...

I guess it's pretty apparent that you are in the age of technology when you are now required to have a remote for class. I printed off my book list for my LAST semester, and on the very first page I saw this...
It's called an iclicker and it is some sort of "response system" to make class more interactive. All students are required to have one starting this fall. I swear they try something new every semester.

We'll see how well this works. It will probably be more frustrating than anything because it is new and we will be the guinea pigs for testing it out. Therefore we will not bear the fruits of the possible benefits of the iclicker, we will bear the frustration and the headaches. I can hardly wait!

I never win anything....

Julie, a family friend, has a blog that I read regularly (she's fairly new to this blogosphere) and she was nominated by another blog reader. Well, she paid it forward and now I've gotten this award. how nice of her! I just talk to talk, so it's still a little daunting that people are even interested in my life. Especially those that don't know me. Thanks Julie!

Megan...Hoddie...and Katie?

Last night I got to watch Luke, Mer, and Brooke. As I walked through the front door I saw Becky up in the hallway upstairs, said hello, and looked down just in time to see Brooke stand up on the counter. I for sure thought she was gonna jump right off to get to me. Luckily Mer was there to lift her off and she safely ran to me and I picked her up. Nothing like a Brooke greeting to make you feel good. :)

It's only been a few weeks and I noticed that she is talking even more than before. She is talking so....proper. When I picked her up she said "Can we go for a car ride to a place?" Haha! Can you tell that when it's just me and her we are usually out and about doing something? After we got past the fact that we weren't going to go anywhere she and I sat down on the couch for a little catch up session. I asked her about what she did that day, what she did on vacation.... They went to "Minsota" and stayed at their cabin like they do every year for the 4th. I asked her if they went out on a boat and she looked at me all serious and said, "Yes we did. It was a differnt boat dough." I asked her if they did turtle races (that's something they do every year up there...race turtles). At first she said no, then she got all serious again and repeated, "Yes we did." She is so cute!! So we talked a little bit longer and we went over the fact that she slept last night in her room (That's what she said when I asked her what she did today). Then I asked if she took a nap and she said yes. I told her "I wish I could have taken a nap today" and she thought that was the funniest thing ever. I mean really...grown ups don't need naps! Then out of the blue she looks at me and says "I gots a mole on my butt." I almost DIED laughing! She started giggling at me, but oh my word it was so funny. Becky had come into the kitchen and didn't quite hear what she said but all she heard was me laughing. She asked Brooke what she said and Brooke proudly informed her about the "mole on her butt". Becky got a good chuckle out of it too. The inner workings of a 2 year old's brain are quite quizzical sometimes.
Once Dan and Becky left Mer, Brooke and I sat on the couch together while the girls at those popsicles that come in the plastic tube. Brooke noticed that I had something in my pocket so I pulled out my cell phone and showed her that's what was in there. She flipped it open and as my wallpaper right now I have a picture of Me, Hol and Lisa. She excitedly exclaimed, "Megan!" Then she pointed to Holli (aka "Hoddie") and then when she got to Lisa she said Megan again. I said no that's Lisa. Well she ran through the three of us several more times and everytime Lisa was someone different. More than once she referred to her as Katie. Where did that come from? So from then on we were known as Megan, Hoddie, and Katie. Two out three isn't bad.
Well, Luke disappeared upstairs for most of the night and Meredith zonked out on the couch around 8:45. I think that was when the highlight of Miss Brooke's night occurred. Hoddie called! I flipped open to answer my phone and Brooke immediately said "I want to talk to her!" For whatever reason she is quite fond of Holli even though she's only seen her a few times. She talked to her about swimming, her ouchie on her knee and who knows what else. I'm just glad she didn't mention the mole on her butt again. ;) Finally, to get Holli off of the phone I told Brooke that Holli had to go nigh-night. She said goodbye about 5 times and then when I hung up she looked at me quizzically and asked, "Why Hoddie go to sleep about?" Did I mention that she is stinkin' cute? After I explained about 3 times that Holli was tired and had to go to bed so she could get up early she was satified with the answer and moved on to wanting something to eat again. The girl ate all night! She must be growing! Luke came down and I ended up feeding them both chicken and noodles since Luke didn't have any supper. That was when I cut her off for the night and told her she had to lay down and "rest". If you avoid saying bedtime she is pretty agreeable to just "rest".
Well, it was about 10:40 when Dan and Becky got home and she was still awake! She ran up to Dan and started talking his ear off. When he asked if anyone called she proudly said "Hoddie called Dada!" The girl loves her Hoddie. Then she moved on to Becky. I swear the way she was acting you would have thought I just gave her a pound of sugar and 3 red bulls! She was bouncing off the walls and talking like crazy. When Becky went to write me a check Brooke told her, "I take Megan home." Becky laughed and told her I was a big girl and could drive myself. Brooke insisted that I could not drive and she would take me home. :) I would take her home with me in a heartbeat!
All good things must of course come to an end.... They weren't home 10 minutes and she was crying on the floor about something. I guess she was crashing from her "high". Becky and I talked for a few minutes more and then I headed home.
Well, now that you have the whole run down of my night (but serisouly what could I have left out? She's so funny and cute!) I guess I will finally call it a night...or day. Whatever. I work tonight, and I'm on a new floor so it will be an adjustment tonight. I hate change sometimes! It's ridiculous that I have to switch floors for only two weeks. I was in a groove on the floor, now I have to reorient myself to something new. Ugh.... Alright, I'll stop complaining now.
Have a good Sunday everyone!

Fun at the Pool....

I went to the pool last Wednesday and I forgot to post the pictures from the afternoon.

Cara wanted to try out my camera so she isn't in any of them because she was taking the pictures and I cleverly avoided the camera. :)

Enjoy....

1 more down and 2 weeks to go!

Well, my summer class finally came to an end today. I acheived a 100%, thank you very much! Online discussion is so easy for me, because 1) I like to talk and 2) I don't have to go into school for it. Now I just have 2 weeks left of full time work and I'm done for the summer. Hopefully I will get to stay on atleast 1 day a week, but we'll see. I'm just glad to get back to a semi-normal sleep schedule. I can't believe that summer is half over already. Where did it go??? Oh yea... vacation, work, sleep, work...

I'm just glad that all I have to do is get through 3 more classes and I am done. Well, of course I will still have the NCLEX boards after that, but hey, that'll be a piece of cake....right???

I went out to lunch with Robin today and then ran to Peoria to pick up a few things. I ended up getting 2 cds, socks, a wallet, and two bags. The bags are ADORABLE! I got them from Gordman's. They are perfect for school, the pool, work, etc. I was only going to get one, but they were all so cute that I had to buy two. :)

Ok, well I am off to watch three of my favorite kiddos. :)

Oh, I almost forgot the good news.... I finally got a new phone!!! Woohoo! The even better news was that I get a pretty good discount because I work for the hospital, so my phone was free, my mom's phone was free, and our bill should either be even to or less than what it was before. Gotta love a good deal!!!

Wipeout!

So last week my mom and I were watching tv and this new television show Wipeout came on. We thought we would watch it because the previews looked ridiculous enough to be interesting. Oh my...how funny it was. I don't know if we were both tired or what, but we got to kind of giggling and then Ariel came on and we just about lost it (Edit: According to a delirious phone call made to my sisters it is confirmed that we lost it). See for yourself... funny or delirious?

Happy 4th!

Well, another 4th of July has come (and almost gone). I can't believe it! It was 232 years ago that we claimed our independence and became our own country. That's crazy for me to think about.
Every year, we as americans, celebrate the day with cookouts, fireworks, and get togethers with family and friends.
This year our celebration was quite a bit smaller than years past. It was just the 5 of us and my great aunt. My dad made hamburgers on the grill, and we dined on potato salad, chips, fruit, etc. It was all pretty tasty!
Afterwards my great aunt showed us a new card game while my dad caught a nap. He'd been out late and up early, so he needed to catch a few more minutes of zzzz's. Then we headed out to play some ladder golf. Not my idea of a fun time (maybe it's because I wasn't very good at it), but still we shared some laughs.

Now my dad and sisters went to Menards to get some home improvement items for Hol and I need to start getting ready for work soon. The floor is jam-packed full, and hopefully we don't get anymore tonight.
Take care of yourselves...watch your kids closely...be very cautious if you will be setting off your own fireworks tonight.... and BE SAFE!!!!

* * *Happy 4th of July!!!!!* * *

Mom's fury...

Well, it happened... It finally happened...

3 years and 4 months later it finally happened.

Sydney destroyed something of value.

Mom and I went to Walmart when she got home from work and when we left Dad was getting ready to leave for his Fourth of July Spectacular event he was having with his junior high group. He's never left her out before, so he's never had the responsibility of closing all the doors and making sure things were picked up so she didn't get into trouble. Well, when mom and I got home there was trouble.

I peeked in the window and saw her standing there in the kitchen....with mom's shoe beside her...chewed!

Mom was livid! She yelled at her "Bad girl!" and put her in her kennel. Oh boy....

Now in Sydney's defense...we know that she has a shoe/sock/foot fetish so mom should have put her shoes away. Dad probably should have shut their bedroom door, but again, he had never left Syd out before, so he didn't know.... Mom admitted she should have put her shoes away, but alas she did not and now her shoe is ruined. They were an $85 pair of shoes, but she got them on sale for $35. Mom...always the bargain shopper. I guess she'll have to whip out some coupons and go get another pair. I see this as a fairly happy ending... she gets a new pair of shoes. Who doesn't love that?

Can I get a fast forward button please?

I wish it was 14 hours in the future. That means I would just be getting off of work and I could be coming home to my bed. I had a good night last night..busy, but good. One of our kiddos was in isolation though, and not that I think I'm too good to take care of an isolation patient, but it makes me more tired because you have to add a couple extra steps before entering the room. It's not just the physical part of it, but the mental as well. You constantly have to be on your toes so you don't forget. Don't want to be spreading C-diff around now do we? I'm sure we'll be there again tonight, and I'm tired just thinking about it. I love that kiddo though! She's adorable and happy 95% of the time. We love that! :)
We were busy ALL night last night. Both kiddos had vitals due every hour, I was running blood gases every other hour it seemed, and to top it off one of our kiddos was throwing up. Ugh! Hopefully the poor thing has been able to keep something down today.
I have Thursday night off, so I guess I can hold out for another 14 hours and then I can rejoice with a night off. What will I do?? Where will I go??? Probably nothing and nowhere, but atleast I have the option! :)
Alright, I should probably choose something to wear. I'm thinking of opting for scrub bottoms and a tee again. I feel more comfortable that way and if I'm going to be running around again tonight, comfort is a must! Speaking of comfort...I got some socks from Old Navy on Sunday and I wore a pair last night. They were fantastic! They were soft, breathable, and stylish to boot! I think I'll wear another pair tonight! :)
Alright people, have a good night! Cherish your health and hug and kiss those little ones. As I've seen... life can change in an instant, and I don't want to see you on my floor!!
XOXO
